Halloween 2011

After much questioning, Owen decided he was going to be a police officer for Halloween so we thought we were set for a costume.  Come to find out that Aunt T acquired a bargain basement dog costume for Ben and Vince for next year, but Owen tried it on and happen to fit into it and LOVED it.  Parker and Jack were not quite enthused when trying on their costumes.  Well, Parker did ok with the firefighter, but Jack was having none of it.  N.O.N.E.  Everything Jen put on him, he immediately took it off, even the simplest of outfits (a cape).  This was obviously not going to work when we were out and about with the guys so Jen decided to make them costumes they wouldn't/couldn't take off.  Something simple, cute, and easy, so she made them Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Suess books.  She got some red shirts, some cardboard, and fabric glue and went to town.  The finishing touch was the blue hair spray.  I kept trying to snap a good picture, but they were not having any of it (as you can see).

Ben was dressed as a pumpkin which is apparently the traditional one year old costume in Connisonville as Owen, P and J have all been pumpkins before.
.

We went over to Katie and Rob's house, had some dinner and hit the streets trick or treating.  Always apprehensive at first, Owen warmed up after the first house or two and kept bragging about all the candy he was getting.  Parker and Jack were holding hands with me pretty much the entire time not too eager, but not yet scared of the the whole situation.  Ben was good in his stroller the majority of the time, until the end when he was just worn out.  After all the treats, Parker learned how to ask for a sucker, even though he originally was saying "peppa please" instead of  actually asking for it by name.  It took about 15 minutes of him rolling on the floor and finally pointing to Owen's to get us to realize he wanted a sucker.  Overall, Halloween was a win, and I think they all had a good time.
